Recall 21V675 affects 802 2021 Subaru Impreza vehicles for control arm weld failure. Do not drive. Free repair at any franchised Subaru dealer.
A separated control arm can let the tire contact the wheel well, causing loss of control and increasing crash risk. There is no warning sign before failure. Do not drive, even for short trips. Ask the dealer about towing if the vehicle must move. Repair is free at any franchised Subaru dealer.
Subaru is recalling 802 2021 Impreza vehicles because the left-front lower control arm weld can fail, letting the control arm separate from the crossmember. Do not drive the vehicle if your VIN is included; a separated control arm can lead to tire contact with the wheel well, loss of control, and crash risk, and Subaru dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The left-front lower control arm on the 2021 Subaru Impreza is a suspension link that helps hold the front wheel in the correct position. It connects to the crossmember, a structural mount under the front of the vehicle, and moves with the suspension as the wheel travels over bumps. The wheel depends on that arm staying firmly attached.
On affected Imprezas, the lower control arm has an improper weld near the connection joint. Subaru traced the issue to damaged assembly-line equipment that let a part ejector rod interfere with the welding torch. Because the torch did not follow the intended path, the weld at that joint was incomplete. If that weld fails, the control arm can separate from the crossmember.
There is no warning sign before failure. Subaru does not describe a noise, vibration, warning light, or handling change that owners can rely on before the weld gives way.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Subaru technician inspects the left front lower control arm and replaces the control arm if the weld or related assembly is affected. The inspection and replacement are free under the recall. Do not drive the vehicle until the repair is complete. If it must move, ask the dealer about towing. If you paid out of pocket for this repair, Subaru's general reimbursement plan covers eligible documented expenses. Keep repair paperwork and ask Subaru customer service or the dealer service desk how to submit it.
