2018-2022 Kzrv RV Recall 21V670: Propane Regulator

Recall 21V670 affects 34,345 2018-2022 Kzrv recreational vehicles with Winntec 6020 propane regulators that can raise gas pressure. Free repair at any franchised Kzrv dealer.

Kzrv is recalling 34,345 2018-2022 recreational vehicles, including Durango 1500, Camplite, and Connect Lite models, because Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulators can fail and raise propane pressure. Higher propane pressure can enlarge appliance flames and increase fire risk; Kzrv dealers will replace the regulator free of charge.

What's wrong?

The WinnTec model 6020 two-stage propane regulator on affected 2018-2022 Kzrv recreational vehicles controls gas pressure between the onboard propane cylinders and the RV appliances. It is supposed to take high cylinder pressure and step it down to a steady appliance pressure, so the stove, furnace, water heater, and other propane equipment receive the right flow.

The defect is inside the second stage valve seat, the part that seals and controls the final pressure step. Its mechanical lock is not secure enough, so the seal can move out of position and stop regulating flow. Plasticizer released from the rubber pigtail hoses can also collect inside the regulator body, change the seal material, and make that movement and degradation easier during use.

Owners can notice irregular appliance performance when the regulator is not controlling pressure correctly. A propane smell at the regulator is another warning sign because it indicates the regulator is venting due to high pressure.

Who's affected?

Covers Kzrv travel trailers and fifth-wheel models across 2018-2022, all tied to the same WinnTec propane regulator and LPG system.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.

What's the safety risk?

High propane pressure can make appliance flames larger and increase the risk of a fire. Irregular appliance performance or a propane smell at the regulator is a warning sign. If you notice either, shut off propane, avoid using gas appliances, and contact the dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Kzrv dealer.

Frequently asked questions

What is recall 21V670?

Recall 21V670 covers 34,345 2018-2022 Kzrv recreational vehicles equipped with Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulators. The regulator can fail and increase propane pressure, which can enlarge appliance flames and raise fire risk. Dealers will replace the regulator and pigtail hoses for free.

What should I do if my 2018-2022 Kzrv recreational vehicle is on this recall?

Check your VIN to confirm your specific RV is included in recall 21V670. If it is, contact a franchised Kzrv dealer to schedule replacement of the propane regulator and pigtail hoses. Use Kzrv recall number KZ-2021-05 when you call. The repair is free.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Kzrv says dealers will replace the propane regulator and pigtail hoses free of charge. Parts and labor are covered at a franchised Kzrv dealer.

What is the safety risk?

The safety risk is fire. If the propane regulator fails, pressure in the propane system can increase and enlarge flames in gas appliances. Until the repair is complete, avoid using propane appliances if you smell propane, see abnormal flames, or have another sign of a propane-system problem.

What if I bought my Kzrv RV used?

The free repair still applies. Recalls follow the vehicle, not the original owner, so a used 2018-2022 Kzrv RV is still eligible if its VIN is included. Kzrv mailed owner letters on June 3, 2022, but used owners often miss mailed notices.
