What's wrong?
The Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulator on affected 2019-2020 Keystone Hideout, Bullet, and Sprinter RVs controls propane pressure before fuel reaches the appliances. Propane leaves the onboard cylinders at tank pressure, then the regulator lowers and steadies that pressure so the stove, furnace, water heater, and other propane appliances receive a controlled flow.
In this recall, the second stage valve seat inside the regulator does not hold its seal in the right position. The seal can migrate because its mechanical lock is inadequate. Liquid plasticizer released from the rubber pigtail hoses can also collect inside the regulator and change the seal material, which makes it degrade during use and move out of position. Once that happens, the regulator does not properly control propane flow and pressure.
Owners can notice irregular performance from RV appliances. The smell of propane at the regulator is another warning sign, because it indicates the regulator is venting from high pressure.
Who's affected?
Covers Hideout, Bullet, and Sprinter trailers from the 2019 and 2020 model years, all tied to the same Winntec propane regulator.
| 2020 Keystone Hideout | Lpg systems |
|---|---|
| 2019 Keystone Bullet | Lpg systems |
| 2019 Keystone Sprinter | Lpg systems |
| Units affected | 10,455 |
The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.
What's the safety risk?
High propane pressure can make gas appliance flames larger and increase the risk of a fire. Treat irregular appliance performance or a propane smell near the regulator as a warning sign. Shut off propane use and call a Keystone dealer before using those appliances again. Repair is free at any franchised Keystone dealer.
