Recall 21V425 affects 87,649 2017-2021 Jayco Travel Trailer travel trailers and fifth wheels for propane-regulator overpressure. Free repair at a franchised Jayco Travel Trailer dealer.

Jayco Travel Trailer is recalling 87,649 2017-2021 Eagle, White Hawk, and other travel trailers and fifth wheels because the Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulator can fail and raise propane pressure. Larger appliance flames can increase fire risk, and Jayco Travel Trailer dealers will replace the regulator free of charge.

What's wrong?

The propane regulator on affected 2017-2021 Jayco Travel Trailer towables controls fuel pressure between the onboard propane cylinders and the appliances inside the trailer or fifth wheel. It is the part that takes high cylinder pressure and feeds a steady lower pressure to items such as the stove, furnace, water heater, and refrigerator.

The recalled Winntec model 6020 regulator uses a second stage valve seat to hold that outlet pressure in the correct range. In these units, the valve seat has an inadequate mechanical lock, so the seal can move out of position. The supply hoses also release a plasticizer that collects inside the regulator and changes the seal material, making it easier for the seal to degrade and migrate. Once that happens, propane flow and pressure are no longer regulated correctly.

Owners can notice irregular performance from RV appliances. A propane smell at the regulator is another warning sign and means the regulator is venting because pressure is too high.

Who's affected?

Covers travel trailer and fifth wheel lines from the 2017-2021 model years, all using the same Winntec 2 Stage propane regulator.

What's the safety risk?

Increased propane pressure can make gas appliance flames larger and increase the risk of a fire. If appliances burn irregularly or you smell propane at the regulator, shut off propane and contact the dealer before using the system again. Repair is free at any franchised Jayco Travel Trailer dealer.

What should I do?
