What's wrong?
The affected part is a 15A fuse in the fuel delivery circuit on 2019-2020 Volvo V60CC, V90, V90CC, XC60, S90, V60, XC90, and S60 vehicles. A fuse is a small electrical protection link. It is supposed to carry normal current to the low-pressure fuel pump and open only when current is high enough to protect the wiring.
On these vehicles, the engine control module can command the fuel delivery module to shut off, creating a short current peak. The 15A fuse is not strong enough for that peak. When it blows, power to the low-pressure fuel pump is cut, so the pump stops sending fuel to the engine.
Before the pump stops, the Driver Information Module, the message display in the instrument cluster, will show a warning message. In a plug-in hybrid Volvo, the vehicle can stop safely or keep moving only while battery charge remains.
Who's affected?
Covers V60CC, V90, V90CC, XC60, S90, V60, XC90, and S60 from the 2019 and 2020 model years, with the same 15A fuse tied to fuel-pump and wiring circuits.
