What's wrong?
The high pressure fuel rail assembly on 2017-2020 Ferrara Inferno and Igniter fire apparatus stores diesel fuel after the pump pressurizes it, then feeds that fuel to the engine injectors. The accumulator is part of that rail assembly, and it helps keep fuel pressure steady so the diesel injection system can deliver fuel evenly.
On affected vehicles, the sealing washer in the fuel rail assembly does not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes. Ferrara traced the problem to pilot bores that are too small for the sealing washer. When the washer cannot seal with the right clamping load, the joint does not stay properly sealed in service. High pressure diesel fuel can leak from the rail assembly.
An operator can see diesel fuel or smell diesel fuel around the vehicle. The check engine lamp can also turn on.
