Recall 21V306 affects 3,198 2017-2021 Tiffin Bus and Phaeton motorhomes for a leaking high-pressure fuel rail. Free repair once Tiffin opens it.
Tiffin is recalling 3,198 2017-2021 Bus and Phaeton motorhomes under recall 21V306 because a sealing washer in the high pressure fuel rail assembly can fail to seat correctly, allowing fuel to leak. A fuel leak near an ignition source raises the risk of a fire, and the dealer repair will be free once Tiffin opens it.

What's wrong?
The high pressure fuel rail on these 2017-2021 Tiffin Bus and Phaeton motorhomes is part of a diesel common-rail fuel system. The rail holds diesel fuel under very high pressure and feeds it to the injectors that spray fuel into each cylinder. A sealing washer sits in a machined pocket, called the pilot bore, at each end of the rail and keeps that high-pressure fuel sealed inside the assembly.
On affected motorhomes, the pilot bore in the rail was machined undersized. The sealing washer cannot seat fully in the pocket, so the joint does not get the clamping load it needs to stay sealed. Over time, pressurized diesel fuel can work past the washer and leak out of the rail. A diesel leak near a hot running engine creates a fire risk.
The first warning sign is usually visible diesel fuel or a strong diesel smell around the engine. In some motorhomes, the check engine light will also come on.
Who's affected?
Covers both the Phaeton and Bus motorhome lines across five model years (2017-2021), all sharing the same Cummins high-pressure fuel rail accumulator.

What's the safety risk?
A fuel leak near an ignition source raises the risk of a fire. Watch for the smell or sight of diesel fuel, and treat an illuminated check engine lamp as a reason to stop driving and call the dealer. Park away from structures until the vehicle has been inspected. Repair will be free at any franchised Tiffin dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2017-2021 Tiffin Bus or Phaeton is included in this recall.
- Wait for Tiffin's owner notification with repair instructions. The final remedy is still under development, and Tiffin mailed an initial notification on August 11, 2021.
- Call Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661 to confirm your vehicle status and reference recall number 21V306 when you call.
- Schedule the fuel-rail inspection (Tiffin and Cummins inspect the rail threads and replace the rail and fuel lines if the high-pressure fuel rail is leaking) once Tiffin authorizes the repair.
- Watch for any fuel smell or visible fuel leak around the engine. If you notice either, stop driving the motorhome, keep it away from ignition sources, and contact Tiffin before moving it again.
What happens at the repair
Tiffin is working with Cummins to develop the final repair. Once it opens, a Tiffin technician will inspect the high pressure fuel rail threads and replace the rail and fuel lines if damage is found. Parts and labor are free under the recall. If you previously paid out of pocket for a related fuel rail or fuel line repair, Tiffin's standard reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring your receipts to the service desk, or contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661 to ask about reimbursement eligibility.
