Recall 21V191 affects 181 2019-2020 Arcimoto Fuv and Deliverator vehicles for overheating HV contactors. An Arcimoto factory technician replaces the parts for free.
Arcimoto is recalling 181 2019-2020 Fuv and Deliverator vehicles because electronic drivers in some high-voltage contactors can malfunction, overheat, and shut down the battery. An unexpected shutdown can cause loss of motive power and increase crash risk; Arcimoto dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The high voltage contactors in the 2019-2020 Arcimoto Fuv and Deliverator are electrical switches inside the traction-power battery system. They open and close the high voltage path that lets battery power reach the propulsion electronics. When they work correctly, they carry current with low resistance and keep heat under control.
On affected vehicles, the electronic driver for the contactor's economizer coil does not control the contactor within the intended limits. That defect raises contact resistance inside the contactor, so more heat builds up while current passes through it. Arcimoto's testing found contactors with excessive resistance, ringing noise, and malformed coil-current control signals; the practical result is overheating that can make the battery shut down.
There is no warning sign before failure. Arcimoto's investigation included vehicles with reduced speed or acceleration before inspection found contactor overheating, but an owner should not rely on that happening first.
Who's affected?
Fuv appears in both model years; Deliverator appears only for 2020 in the supplied scope. The scope is split between the electric propulsion system and the high-voltage traction battery.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific vehicle.
What's the safety risk?
An unexpected battery shutdown can cut motive power while the vehicle is moving, increasing the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign before failure. Schedule the repair soon, and if power drops while driving, move out of traffic when safe. Repair is free at any franchised Arcimoto dealer.
What should I do?

- Contact Arcimoto customer service to schedule the free factory-technician replacement for overheating high-voltage contactors and related battery-shutdown components.
- Bring the recall notice if Arcimoto mailed one. If not, reference recall number 21V191 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete. Pull over safely if the battery shuts down or motive power drops.
What happens at the repair
Arcimoto does not use a dealer or distributor network for this recall. Arcimoto will notify owners, then an Arcimoto factory technician replaces the high voltage contactors and related components. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. If you've already paid for a related contactor repair before the recall work, keep your paperwork and contact Arcimoto customer service to ask how its general reimbursement plan applies.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 21V191?
Recall 21V191 covers 181 2019-2020 Arcimoto Fuv and 2020 Arcimoto Deliverator vehicles with high-voltage contactors that can overheat and shut down the battery. That shutdown can cause a loss of motive power and increase crash risk. Arcimoto will replace the contactors and related components for free.
What should I do if my 2019-2020 Arcimoto Fuv or Deliverator is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 21V191. If it is, contact Arcimoto customer service at 1-541-683-6293 to arrange the free contactor and related component replacement by an Arcimoto factory technician.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to fix the defect at no cost, and Arcimoto says a factory technician will replace the contactors and related components free of charge. Arcimoto reported that it had no dealers or distributors for this recall.
What is the safety risk in recall 21V191?
The risk is a sudden loss of motive power. If the high-voltage contactor electronics overheat, the battery can shut down, which can leave the vehicle without propulsion and increase crash risk. Confirm your VIN, then arrange the free Arcimoto repair if your vehicle is included.
What if I bought my Arcimoto used?
The free recall repair still applies. Federal recall law follows the vehicle, not the first owner, so a used 2019-2020 Fuv or 2020 Deliverator still qualifies if its VIN is included. Check your VIN and reference recall 21V191 when you contact Arcimoto.
