What's wrong?
The Dometic 3 burner cooking stove in affected 2020-2021 Bigfoot 2500 Series recreational vehicles is part of the RV's LPG system. The stove uses gas supplied through the appliance manifold, and the saddle valve helps control and seal that gas path so fuel reaches the burners only when the appliance is being used.
The problem is at the saddle valve securement bolt. Dometic traced the leak condition to field adjustments where that bolt was tightened too far against the manifold. When it is overtightened, it damages the o-ring seal, the small rubber ring that keeps gas from escaping around the valve. Once that seal is damaged, gas leaks continuously instead of staying sealed inside the Cooking Stove assembly.
There is no warning sign before failure. Treat any gas smell, appliance concern, or dealer notice as a reason to stop using the stove until the recall repair is completed.
