What's wrong?
The brake caliper mounting bolt holds the disc brake caliper to the driver-side steer axle. The caliper is the clamp that presses the brake pads against the rotor when the driver applies the brakes. On affected 2021 Fccc Xcp, Xcs, Xcl, Xcm, Xcr, Cascadia, 5700, Business Class M2, and 4700 vehicles, that caliper depends on each mounting bolt being tightened to the correct torque.
In this recall, one of the six caliper mounting bolts on the driver-side steer axle was not tightened correctly during assembly. If that bolt is under torqued, the nearby caliper bolts can loosen over time. That leaves the caliper less securely attached than designed, so the brake hardware on that wheel is not held with the intended clamping force.
There is no warning sign before failure. The owner-facing record does not list a pedal feel change, noise, warning light, or other symptom before the loose bolt condition becomes a problem.

What's the safety risk?
Loose brake caliper bolts can reduce the clamping force between the caliper and brake anchor plate. That reduces brake effectiveness and increases crash risk. Until the vehicle is inspected, drive cautiously and schedule the dealer repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Fccc dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2021 Fccc Xcp, Xcs, Xcl, Xcm, Xcr, Cascadia, 5700, Business Class M2, or 4700 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Fccc dealer to schedule the free brake-caliper bolt inspection and repair that restores proper clamping force at the driver-side steer axle.
- Bring any owner letter, or reference recall number 21V018 and DTNA recall FL-873 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete. Leave extra following distance and avoid hard braking when traffic allows.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Fccc technician inspects the driver side steer axle brake caliper mounting bolt and repairs the affected hardware as needed. The inspection and any recall repair are free at Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities. If you already paid out of pocket for a related brake caliper or steer axle repair before the owner notice, follow the reimbursement instructions in the owner notification letter. The service facility can also tell you what documentation Daimler Trucks North America requires for the claim.
