What's wrong?
The front-row center seat belt in these 2019-2021 Chevrolet vehicles is anchored to a bracket inside the center seat and console area. That bracket is supposed to be fixed to the seat frame, so the belt can hold the center occupant against the seat structure when the belt is loaded. On vehicles with the split-bench front seat, the center seating position depends on that connection staying tight.
On affected vehicles, the supplier did not properly align and secure the seat belt bracket during seat manufacture. The bracket's ferrule, the small sleeve that locks the bracket to the frame, was left uncrimped on affected seats. If that connection is loose or detached, the center seat belt is no longer secured to the seat frame as designed.
Owners can notice a rattle from the center seat or console area. The front-row center seat belt also can feel loose or appear detached from the seat frame.
Who's affected?
The scope spans pickup and SUV nameplates from 2019-2021, with the front center seat listed across seat belt and critical-fastener component categories.

What's the safety risk?
A loose or unsecured front-row center seat-belt bracket can keep the belt from restraining the front center occupant properly, increasing injury risk in a crash. Listen for rattling near the center seat or console, and treat a loose or detached belt as a reason to leave that seat empty until inspection. Repair is free at any franchised Chevrolet dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Sierra 2500, Silverado 3500, Tahoe, Sierra 1500, Yukon Xl, Sierra 3500, Silverado 2500, or Suburban is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer to schedule the free seat-belt bracket inspection and reassembly that secures the front-row center seat belt to the seat frame.
- Bring the recall notice if Chevrolet mailed one. If not, reference recall number 20V792 when you call.
- Use another seating position until the repair is complete if the front-row center seat belt bracket has not been inspected.
- Call Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-462-8782 with questions about scheduling or recall coverage.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chevrolet technician inspects the left-side and right-side front-row center seat-belt bracket attachments and reassembles any bracket that was not secured correctly to the seat frame. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. GM's reimbursement plan covers eligible owners who already paid for related seat-belt bracket repairs before the recall work. Ask Chevrolet customer service or the dealer service desk how to submit documentation for that prior repair.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 20V792?
Recall 20V792 covers 624,216 2019-2021 Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUVs with front-row center seat-belt brackets that were not secured to the seat frame. If the bracket is loose, the belt does not properly restrain that occupant in a crash. Dealers inspect and reassemble the bracket attachment for free.
What should I do if my 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra, or Yukon Xl is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 20V792. If it is, contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer to schedule the front-row center seat-belt bracket inspection and reassembly. Reference recall number 20V792 or GM recall N202314670 when you call. The repair is free.
Does the recall repair cost anything?
No. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost, and Chevrolet dealers inspect and reassemble the affected front-row center seat-belt bracket attachments free of charge. Parts and labor are covered for vehicles included in recall 20V792.
What is the safety risk in recall 20V792?
The safety risk is reduced restraint for the front-row center occupant during a crash. If a seat-belt bracket is not secured to the seat frame, the belt does not hold that occupant as designed, increasing the risk of injury. The dealer inspection and reassembly fixes the bracket attachment.
What if I bought the vehicle used?
The free repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the vehicle, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific Chevrolet or GMC truck or SUV is included in recall 20V792, then call a franchised Chevrolet dealer and reference GM recall N202314670.
