Recall 20V645 affects 2,873 2019-2021 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC7T, FEC9T, and Feczt trucks for vacuum-pump heat damage. Repair is free at any franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer.
Mitsubishi Fuso is recalling 2,873 2019-2021 FEC7T, FEC9T, and Feczt trucks because exhaust heat can crack the brake booster vacuum pump diaphragm and cause loss of vacuum. Without that vacuum, power brake assist can become inoperable and crash risk rises; Mitsubishi Fuso dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The service brake vacuum pump on 2019-2021 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC7T, FEC9T, and Feczt trucks supplies vacuum to the brake booster. The booster uses that vacuum to multiply the force from your foot, so the brake pedal does not require full leg pressure every time you stop.
On these trucks, heat from the exhaust manifold reaches the vacuum pump during normal engine operation. That heat damages the pump diaphragm, the flexible internal seal that helps the pump hold vacuum. When the diaphragm cracks, the pump loses vacuum and the brake booster loses assistance. The truck still has a brake pedal, but stopping takes more effort and the risk of a crash increases.
The warning sign is the low vacuum warning lamp. If that lamp turns on, safely exit the roadway and shut the engine off.
Who's affected?
Covers FEC7T, FEC9T, and Feczt trucks across 2019-2021, all tied to the same hydraulic brake system component.

What's the safety risk?
Vacuum loss can leave the truck without power brake assist, which increases the risk of a crash. If the low vacuum warning lamp turns on, safely leave the roadway, stop, and shut the engine off. Schedule the recall repair soon, and tell the dealer about any warning lamp. Repair is free at any franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019-2021 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC7T, FEC9T, or Feczt is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer to schedule the free vacuum-pump replacement and exhaust heat-shield installation that protects brake assist from exhaust heat.
- Bring the recall notice if Mitsubishi Fuso mailed one. If not, reference recall number 20V645 when you call.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete, and leave extra following distance because power brake assist can stop working if the vacuum pump loses vacuum.
- Call Mitsubishi Fuso customer service at 1-877-711-0707 with questions about the repair.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mitsubishi Fuso technician replaces the brake booster vacuum pump assembly and installs exhaust heat shields near the exhaust manifold. The new pump restores the vacuum source for brake assist, and the shields reduce heat exposure that can crack the pump diaphragm during normal engine operation. Parts and labor are covered under recall 20V645, so the dealer repair is free. Ask the service desk to confirm that both the pump replacement and heat shield installation are included on the repair order.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 20V645?
Recall 20V645 covers 2,873 2019-2021 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC7T, FEC9T, and Feczt trucks with a brake booster vacuum pump that can crack from exhaust heat. Mitsubishi Fuso dealers will replace the vacuum pump and install exhaust heat shields for free.
What should I do if my 2019-2021 Mitsubishi Fuso FEC7T, FEC9T, or Feczt is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific truck is included in recall 20V645. If it is, contact a franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer to schedule the vacuum pump replacement and exhaust heat shield installation. Reference recall number 20V645 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Mitsubishi Fuso dealers will replace the vacuum pump and install exhaust heat shields free of charge. Parts and labor are covered for included vehicles.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is reduced braking assist. Exhaust heat can crack the brake booster vacuum pump diaphragm, causing loss of vacuum. If that happens, power brake assist can become inoperable, increasing crash risk. The dealer repair fixes the vacuum pump and adds heat shielding.
What if I bought my Mitsubishi Fuso truck used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the VIN, not the first owner. If you never received the owner letter mailed on December 15, 2021, check your VIN and contact a franchised Mitsubishi Fuso dealer with recall number 20V645.
