What's wrong?
The fuel hose on the 2019-2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, Sprinter 2500, Sprinter 3500, and Sprinter 4500 carries fuel between the rigid fuel line and the Schrader valve. Clamps hold both hose connections tight against their nozzles so fuel stays contained while the engine runs. That connection has to stay seated under vibration, heat, and normal engine movement.
On affected Sprinters, those clamps were not installed tightly enough or the hose components were not positioned to specification before assembly. Over time, the clamp connection can loosen. If the hose pulls away from a connection point, fuel can leak near the engine instead of staying inside the fuel system.
There is no warning sign before failure. If you smell fuel, see wetness around the engine area, or notice fuel dripping, treat it as a leak and have the vehicle checked by a Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealer.

Covers Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter 3500, Sprinter 2500, Sprinter 4500, and Sprinter 1500 vans across the 2019 and 2020 model years, all tied to the fuel system.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mercedes-Benz technician checks the fuel hose clamp connections, then tightens the clamps or replaces related components that need replacement. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. Daimler Vans says it is not providing a separate reimbursement program because all involved vehicles remain covered under the new vehicle warranty. If you have prior repair paperwork for this fuel hose issue, ask the Mercedes-Benz service desk how warranty coverage applies.
