What's wrong?
The front wheel speed sensor on the 2018-2019 Kymco Like 150I uses a magnetic ring to read wheel speed for the anti-lock brake system, or ABS. ABS compares wheel speed while braking and helps keep the wheel from locking when traction drops. The magnetic ring has to stay clean and intact so the sensor sends a usable signal.
On affected scooters, the supplier used too much grease on that magnetic ring. The excess grease breaks down the ring early, so the speed sensor stops giving the ABS controller the right wheel-speed information. When that signal fails, the ABS stops working as designed.
The warning sign is the ABS light on the meter. That light turns on after the magnetic ring has deteriorated and the front speed sensor is no longer reading correctly. If you see it, use that wording when you contact a Kymco dealer.
Who's affected?
The scope runs across the 2018 and 2019 model years, with the hydraulic brake system listed for each year.

What's the safety risk?
Loss of ABS can make the scooter harder to control during emergency braking and increases crash risk. The ABS light on the meter is the warning sign tied to the deteriorated magnetic ring in the front speed sensor. Schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Kymco dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Kymco technician cleans the speed sensor sleeve and replaces the magnetic ring inside the speed sensor. The work addresses grease contamination around the ABS sensor magnetic ring, which can damage the ring and lead to ABS failure. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. When you schedule, give the dealer Kymco recall number Like150-2020-Recall so the service desk can match the scooter to the repair.
