What's wrong?
The headlamp relay on 2015-2020 Autocar Xspotter vehicles is an electrical switch in the fuse box that sends power to the headlights when the lighting circuit calls for it. A relay retainer is the locking piece that keeps that relay seated in the fuse box while the vehicle moves, vibrates, and works through normal service.
On affected Xspotter vehicles, the cab wiring harness was supplied without the integral fuse box relay retainer. Without that locking piece, vibration and normal movement can let the headlamp relay back out of its connection. Once the relay loses contact, the headlight circuit loses power and the headlights shut off.
There is no warning sign before failure. The relay can disconnect without a flicker, warning light, or other advance clue, so the first thing an operator notices is the headlights going out.
Who's affected?

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific truck is included.
What's the safety risk?
Headlight failure reduces visibility and increases the risk of a crash. The head lamp relay can disconnect without warning, so treat any headlight outage as a reason to stop in a safe place and arrange service before continuing. Repair is free at any franchised Autocar dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2015-2020 Autocar Xspotter is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Autocar dealer to schedule the free fuse-box relay retainer installation that keeps the headlamp relay connected.
- Bring the recall notice if Autocar sent one. If not, reference recall number 19V922 when you call.
- Avoid night driving until the relay retainer is installed, since headlamp failure reduces visibility.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Autocar technician installs a fuse box relay retainer so the headlamp relay stays connected to the fuse box. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered. Autocar has a general reimbursement plan on file for owners who already paid for this repair before the recall work was completed. If that applies to you, contact Autocar customer service or ask the dealer service desk what documentation they need for a reimbursement claim.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 19V922?
Recall 19V922 covers 3,448 2015-2020 Autocar Xspotter vehicles with a headlamp relay that can disconnect from the fuse box and shut off the headlights. Autocar dealers will install a fuse box relay retainer for free.
What should I do if my 2015-2020 Autocar Xspotter is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Xspotter is included in recall 19V922. If it is, contact a franchised Autocar dealer to schedule the fuse box relay retainer installation. Reference recall number 19V922 or Autocar recall ACTT-2002 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. Autocar dealers will install the fuse box relay retainer free of charge, including parts and labor.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is reduced visibility if the headlights shut off while the vehicle is in use. That loss of lighting increases crash risk. If your headlights fail before the repair, stop using the vehicle after dark and call an Autocar dealer for guidance.
What if I bought my Autocar Xspotter used?
The free recall repair still applies. Federal recall law follows the vehicle, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific Xspotter is included, then contact a franchised Autocar dealer and give them recall number 19V922.
