Recall 19V839 affects 72,718 2019 Ford Ranger trucks for misaligned rear-light connector terminals. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
Ford is recalling 72,718 2019 Ranger trucks because misaligned or improperly seated rear light connector terminals can make the tail lamps work intermittently or stop working. That loss of stop, turn, rear position, and reverse lights reduces visibility and raises crash risk; Ford dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The rear tail lights on the 2019 Ford Ranger rely on an underbody wire harness connector to carry power and ground between the truck wiring and the lamps. The small metal terminals inside that connector need to sit squarely in the connector shell so the rear lights and turn signals receive a steady electrical connection.
On affected Rangers, the male and female terminals in that inline connector were misaligned during assembly or were not fully seated. When the connector was joined, a terminal was pushed out of place instead of locking in. That poor connection can break the terminal locking tab and cause the rear lights to work intermittently or stop working.
You can see warning signs in the instrument cluster. The turn signal indicator can flash fast or cut in and out, and the truck can show "Trailer not connected" or "Parking Aid Malfunction" messages.

What's the safety risk?
Intermittent or failed tail lamps reduce rear visibility and can leave other drivers without a clear brake, turn, reverse, or rear-position signal, increasing the risk of a crash. Fast or intermittent turn-signal indicators, a trailer error message, or a parking-aid malfunction message are warning signs to schedule service soon. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019 Ford Ranger is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Ford dealer to schedule the free inline-connector inspection and repair that fixes intermittent or inoperative rear lights.
- Bring the recall notice if Ford mailed one. If not, reference recall number 19V839 when you call.
- Confirm the rear lights work before each trip, and leave extra space when braking, turning, or reversing until the repair is complete.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ford technician inspects the inline electrical connector for the rear lights, checks for loose or misaligned terminals, and replaces the connectors when the inspection shows replacement is needed. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. Ford is not offering a separate reimbursement program for this campaign because the original warranty program provides a free repair for this concern. Ask the service desk how warranty coverage applies if you have prior repair paperwork.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 19V839?
Recall 19V839 covers 72,718 2019 Ford Ranger trucks with rear-light connector terminals that are misaligned or not properly seated. The rear lights can work intermittently or stop working, reducing brake, turn, rear position, and reverse lamp functions. Ford dealers inspect the connector and replace connectors when needed for free.
What should I do if my 2019 Ford Ranger is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Ranger is included in recall 19V839. If it is, contact a franchised Ford dealer and ask for recall 19S43 service. The dealer will inspect the rear-light inline connector, replace connectors when needed, and complete the recall repair for free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires Ford to repair this defect at no cost, and Ford's remedy says dealers will inspect the inline connector and replace connectors when needed free of charge. Use a franchised Ford dealer for the recall repair.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is reduced visibility to other drivers. If the tail lamps work intermittently or stop working, other drivers do not get the full stop, turn, rear position, or reverse-lamp signal when the truck is braking, turning, or backing up.
What if I bought my 2019 Ford Ranger used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the vehicle, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific Ranger is included, then reference recall 19V839 or Ford recall number 19S43 when you call a franchised Ford dealer.
