Ford is recalling 2,624 2019 Fiesta vehicles because the brake calipers were built with the wrong assembly fluid, which can swell the rubber seals. Swollen seals can make the brakes drag and overheat, increasing the risk of a crash; Ford dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The front brake caliper on the 2019 Ford Fiesta clamps the brake pads against the rotor when you press the pedal. It uses hydraulic pressure, meaning brake fluid moves through the system and pushes the caliper so the wheel slows. Rubber seals inside the caliper keep that fluid contained.
On affected Fiesta vehicles, the calipers were assembled with the wrong fluid because a supplier container was mislabeled. That fluid is not compatible with the caliper seals. It can make the rubber swell, and Ford testing also found small amounts of the wrong lubricant in the brake jounce hoses, the flexible brake hoses that move with the suspension.
If the seals or hoses leak, the brake fluid level can drop. The warning sign Ford identified is a low brake fluid warning light in the vehicle.

What's the safety risk?
Swollen brake seals can make the brakes drag. That drag overheats the brakes and increases the risk of a crash. If brake fluid leaks, the low fluid warning can illuminate. Schedule the repair soon and avoid ignoring brake warning lights. Repair is free at any franchised Ford dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019 Ford Fiesta is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Ford dealer to schedule the free brake-fluid flush, front brake-caliper replacement, and brake-hose replacement that fixes the swollen-seal brake drag.
- Bring the recall notice if Ford mailed one. If not, reference recall number 19V629 when you call.
- Ask Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 if you need help finding a dealer or confirming parts availability.
- Drive cautiously until the repair is complete. Stop in a safe place and call the dealer if you notice brake drag, brake overheating, or a burning smell.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ford technician flushes the brake fluid, then replaces the front brake calipers and front brake hoses covered by the recall. The replacement parts and labor are free under the recall. Ford is not offering a separate reimbursement program because the original warranty program already provides a free repair for this concern. If you have prior repair paperwork for this brake issue, ask the service desk how the original warranty coverage applies.
