What's wrong?
The roof emergency escape hatch on the 2019 Goshen G-Force, Pacer Ii, Crusader, Lf Transport, Challenger, Defender, and Impulse shuttle buses is an exit point built into the bus roof. Its external release handle is supposed to let the hatch be opened from outside the bus when access through normal doors is not the right path.
On affected buses, the Prolo hatch handle was made with cast zinc that did not form correctly. The casting mold ran outside specification in one section, so the zinc cooled too quickly and left voids and porous spots inside the handle stem. That weakens the handle, and it can break when someone uses it in a normal way.
There is no warning sign before failure. The handle can look and feel usable until it breaks, so the problem is handled by replacing the affected hatch handles with new in-spec handles.

What's the safety risk?
A broken roof hatch external handle can make the hatch hard to open from outside the vehicle during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. There is no warning sign before the handle breaks, so schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Goshen dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019 Goshen G-Force, Pacer Ii, Crusader, Lf Transport, Challenger, Defender, or Impulse shuttle bus is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Goshen dealer to schedule the free roof hatch outside-handle replacement that fixes the handle at risk of breaking under reasonable use.
- Bring the recall notice if Goshen has mailed one. If not, reference recall number 19V554 when you call.
- Keep emergency-exit access clear until the repair is complete, since a broken outside handle makes the roof hatch harder to open from outside the bus.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Goshen technician replaces the external handle on the Prolo roof emergency escape hatch. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. The reimbursement plan also pays $25 in labor for each hatch handle replaced, which covers owners who already paid for this recall repair before having the dealer work completed through the campaign. Bring repair documentation to the service desk, or contact customer service, so the claim can be matched to the hatch handle labor reimbursement.
