2003-2016 Porsche Cayenne/Panamera Recall 19V446: Gear Bushing

Recall 19V446 covers 99,665 Porsche Cayenne and Panamera vehicles for a shifter bushing defect. Free repair at any franchised Porsche dealer.

Porsche is recalling 99,665 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 Cayenne and Panamera vehicles because the gear selector bushing can degrade and detach. The shifter can move to Park and the key can come out while the transmission is not in Park, leaving the vehicle able to roll if the parking brake is not applied; Porsche dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?

The selector cable bushing in these Porsche Cayenne and Panamera vehicles is a small plastic connector in the gear-selector linkage. It attaches the shift lever inside the cabin to the gearbox, so the transmission follows the position the driver selects. When the driver moves the lever to Park, that connection is supposed to put the transmission in Park as well.

On affected vehicles, the plastic bushing material is not durable enough over time. As it wears and degrades, the bushing can separate from the selector cable connection. The lever then still moves, but the gearbox does not receive the same command. That allows the key to come out and the lever to show Park while the transmission is not actually locked in Park.

The warning sign is movement after Park is selected. If the vehicle rolls or creeps with the selector lever in Park, treat that as a sign the linkage is not holding the transmission position correctly.

Who's affected?

Scope crosses Cayenne SUV variants and Panamera car variants, all tied to the automatic transmission gear-position indication system.

2015 Porsche Panamera automatic transmission
2014 Porsche Panamera automatic transmission
2013 Porsche Panamera automatic transmission
2012 Porsche Panamera automatic transmission
2016 Porsche Panamera automatic transmission

Field incidentsNHTSA has logged no field incidents to date.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.

What's the safety risk?

An affected Porsche can move unexpectedly if you exit without the transmission in Park and the parking brake applied, increasing crash risk. Use the parking brake every time until the repair is complete. A warning sign is vehicle movement even with the selector lever in Park. Repair is free at any franchised Porsche dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 Porsche Cayenne, Cayenne S, Cayenne Turbo, Cayenne Turbo S, Panamera, Panamera 4, Panamera 4S, Panamera GTS, Panamera S, Panamera Turbo, or Panamera Turbo S is included in this recall.
  2. Contact your nearest franchised Porsche dealer to schedule the free shifter cable bushing replacement that fixes the gear-selector connection to the gearbox.
  3. Bring the recall notice if Porsche mailed one. If not, reference recall number 19V446 when you call.
  4. Use the parking brake every time you park until the repair is complete.
  5. Confirm the transmission is in Park before exiting the vehicle, then keep the parking brake applied.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Porsche technician replaces the shifter cable bushing that connects the gear selector lever to the gearbox. The recall repair is free, and parts and labor are covered. Until the work is complete, use the parking brake every time you park the vehicle. If you already paid for a shifter cable bushing repair tied to this recall, ask Porsche customer service or the dealer how to submit documentation under Porsche's reimbursement plan.
