2017-2019 Ducati Panigale Recall 19V382: Fuel Spray

Recall 19V382 affects 1,880 2017-2019 Ducati Panigale V4, V4 S, Speciale, and R motorcycles for fuel-cap spray risk. Free repair at any franchised Ducati dealer.

Ducati is recalling 1,880 2017-2019 Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S, Panigale Speciale, and Panigale R motorcycles under recall 19V382 because excessive pressure in the fuel tank can spray fuel when the cap is opened. Fuel spray raises the risk of injury, and a leak near an ignition source raises the risk of fire. Ducati dealers will fix this for free.

What's wrong?

The fuel cap on these Ducati Panigale motorcycles seals the top of the gasoline tank and works with a venting system that lets pressure escape in a controlled way. Under normal conditions, the vent bleeds off vapor as the fuel warms, so the tank stays at a safe pressure. When you twist the cap open, only a small amount of vapor should release.

On affected bikes, the venting system does not move enough vapor out of the tank, especially in hot weather. Pressure builds inside the tank above what the design allows. When the rider opens the cap at a stop, that trapped pressure pushes fuel up through the filler neck, and gasoline can spray out around the cap.

There is a warning sign. If you open the cap slowly and hear an audible hiss from the fuel cap, stop turning and wait until the hiss ends before opening the cap the rest of the way. The hiss is pressure escaping, and waiting it out prevents the spray.

Who's affected?

Covers four Panigale variants (V4, V4 S, R, Speciale) across the 2017, 2018, and 2019 model years, all sharing the same fuel tank filler assembly.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific motorcycle is included in this recall.

What's the safety risk?

Fuel spray when opening the cap can cause injury, and a fuel leak near an ignition source raises the risk of fire. If you hear an audible hiss as you loosen the fuel cap, stop and wait for the hiss to end before opening it fully. Schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Ducati dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2017-2019 Ducati Panigale V4, Panigale V4 S, Panigale Speciale, or Panigale R is included in this recall.
  2. Contact a franchised Ducati dealer to schedule the free fuel-cap venting update that stops fuel from spraying when the tank is opened.
  3. Ask the dealer to also install the updated owner's manual page and the warning-label decal on the fuel tank during the same visit.
  4. Reference recall number 19V382 when you call, and mention Ducati's internal number SRV-RCL-19-001 if the service desk asks.
  5. Open the fuel cap slowly and away from ignition sources until the repair is complete to reduce the risk of fuel spray and fire.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Ducati technician updates the fuel cap venting system, installs an updated page in the owner's manual, and affixes a warning label decal to the fuel tank. Parts and labor are free under the recall. If your motorcycle was previously remedied under recall 18V-238 for a similar issue, it is still included in this campaign and the service desk will process the updated repair. Ducati has a general reimbursement plan on file for owners who already paid out of pocket for a related repair before the recall notice. Bring your receipts and any prior service paperwork when you arrive.

What should I do if my 2017-2019 Ducati Panigale is on this recall?
