Recall 19V343 affects 21,052 2010-2013 Suzuki Kizashi vehicles for a passenger airbag sensor defect. Repair is free at any franchised Suzuki dealer.
Suzuki is recalling 21,052 2010-2013 Kizashi sedans under recall 19V343 because the front passenger Occupant Classification System can misread an adult as a child and shut off the front air bag. A deactivated air bag will not deploy in a crash, raising the risk of injury, and Suzuki dealers will reprogram the system free of charge.

What's wrong?
The Occupant Classification System on the 2010-2013 Suzuki Kizashi is a sensor mat built into the front passenger seat cushion. It reads the weight and position of whoever is sitting there, then tells the airbag computer whether to arm or suppress the passenger front airbag. The system is designed to keep the airbag off when a child is in the seat and on when an adult is in the seat.
On affected Kizashi vehicles, the sensor pads inside that mat were not positioned correctly for the shape of the seat cushion. As a result, the system can read an adult as a child and switch the passenger front airbag off. In a frontal crash, the airbag would not deploy for that adult passenger, leaving them without that layer of protection.
The warning sign is on the dashboard. When the passenger airbag has been suppressed, the PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator stays lit. If an adult is in the seat and that light is on, the system has misclassified the occupant.
Who's affected?
Covers four model years of the Kizashi (2010-2013), with two related air bag components in scope: the passenger-side frontal inflator module and the occupant classification sensor.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific sedan is included in this recall.
What's the safety risk?
If the front passenger air bag is suppressed when it should be active, it will not deploy in a crash, raising the risk of serious injury to that passenger. The PASS AIR BAG OFF indicator stays lit when the bag is off, so check it before each drive and avoid seating an adult in that seat until the seat cushion is replaced. Repair is free at any franchised Suzuki dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2010-2013 Suzuki Kizashi is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Suzuki service provider to schedule the front passenger seat cushion replacement that fixes the Occupant Classification System and restores proper front air bag deployment.
- Reference recall number 19V343 (Suzuki recall C5) when you call so the service desk pulls the correct parts.
- Call Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934 with questions about parts availability or scheduling.
- Until the repair is complete, avoid seating an adult in the front passenger seat so the air bag is not deactivated by the faulty sensor.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Suzuki technician replaces the front passenger seat cushion, which includes a new Occupant Classification System mat assembly. Parts and labor are free under the recall. If you previously paid out of pocket to repair the front passenger air bag deactivation or the OCS, Suzuki's standard reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring your receipts and any prior repair paperwork to the service desk when you arrive, and call Suzuki customer service at 1-800-934-0934 with questions about eligibility before your appointment.
