Recall 19V334 covers 1,848 2018-2020 Airstream travel trailers for a spare tire carrier that can detach. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
Airstream is recalling 1,848 2018-2020 Tommy Bahama, Flying Cloud, International, Nest, Sport, Classic, and Globetrotter travel trailers because the forward end of the spare tire carrier can contact the ground while moving. If the carrier and spare tire separate, they can create a road hazard and increase crash risk; an International dealer will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The spare tire carrier bracket on affected 2018-2020 Airstream travel trailers holds the spare tire carrier under the trailer. Its job is simple: keep the carrier and spare tire secured while the trailer moves over bumps, grades, and normal road vibration. The bracket has to stay welded firmly to the carrier structure so the tire does not shift or drag.
On these trailers, the bracket was not welded to the required specification. Airstream found inconsistent weld quality, including welds made with too little heat to penetrate the metal correctly. When the weld is weak, the forward end of the spare tire carrier can drop low enough to contact the road while the trailer is moving.
That road contact can break the carrier loose and allow the carrier and spare tire to separate from the trailer. There is no warning sign before failure. If the bracket has already started to crack, the first clear sign can be a loose, dragging, or missing spare tire carrier.

The year and model narrow the list, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.
What's the safety risk?
If the spare tire carrier bracket fails, the spare tire and carrier can detach from the trailer and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. There is no warning sign listed before detachment, so confirm your VIN and schedule the recall repair if included. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2018-2020 Airstream Tommy Bahama, Flying Cloud, International, Nest, Sport, Classic, or Globetrotter travel trailer is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised International dealer to schedule the free corrected spare tire carrier bracket installation, which keeps the carrier and spare tire from separating while the trailer is moving.
- Bring the recall notice if Airstream mailed one. If not, reference recall number 19V334 when you call.
- Call Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 with questions about the free repair.
- Avoid towing the trailer until the repair is complete if the spare tire carrier contacts the ground or sits too close to the road.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an International technician installs corrected spare tire carrier brackets for the Airstream recall. The corrected brackets keep the spare tire carrier from contacting the ground while the trailer is moving and replace the affected bracket setup. Parts and labor are covered under the recall, so the dealer repair is free. The source record says corrected spare tire brackets were sent to affected customers and dealers for installation at no cost to the owner.

Recall 19V334 covers 1,848 2018-2020 Airstream Tommy Bahama, Flying Cloud, International, Nest, Sport, Classic, and Globetrotter travel trailers. The spare tire carrier bracket can contact the ground while moving, allowing the carrier and spare tire to separate from the trailer.
What should I do if my 2018-2020 Airstream Tommy Bahama, Flying Cloud, International, Nest, Sport, Classic, or Globetrotter is on this recall?
