What's wrong?
The door lock on the 2019 Mercedes-Benz Cla 250 is the latch assembly that holds the door shut, then releases it when you use the handle or electronic lock. On the right side doors, the lock also has an operating lever inside the latch that has to move into the correct position after the vehicle is locked and unlocked.
In affected vehicles, a supplier installed an incorrect component in that door lock. The operating lever has the wrong shape for this latch, so the clutch lever does not fall behind its intended hook after the lock cycles. When that happens, the right side doors stay latched even though the owner is trying to open them from outside the vehicle.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem shows up when the right side door does not open from the outside after electronic locking and unlocking.

What's the safety risk?
In a crash, right-side doors that cannot open from outside increase injury risk by slowing rescue access or exit through those doors. There is no warning sign before failure, so schedule the door-lock repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mercedes-Benz dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Mercedes-Benz technician replaces the right side door locks covered by recall 19V219. The replacement parts and labor are free under the recall. Out-of-pocket repairs already paid are handled through the existing new vehicle warranty, not through a separate reimbursement program, because the involved vehicles remain covered under that warranty.
