What's wrong?
The Freedman GO-ES Foldaway Seat in the 2015-2016 Goshen Impulse is a passenger seat built to rotate from a stowed position into an upright seating position. When it is set for use, the cushion and locking mechanism are supposed to hold the seat in place under passenger load, including during a sudden stop or crash.
The defect is in the seat back frame weldment, the welded frame structure inside the seat back. On affected seats, that frame was built too narrow and deforms the cushion dump mechanism, the latch system that lets the foldaway cushion move and then lock. Once that mechanism is distorted, the cushion does not stay locked as designed when load is applied.
The warning sign is the locking action itself. When the back cushion is moved upright, owners or drivers should hear an audible click, and the mechanism handle should rotate downward into the locked position. There is no visual difference between a recalled GO-ES Foldaway Seat and a remedy seat.

What's the safety risk?
A foldaway seat back that moves during a crash leaves the occupant with an increased risk of injury. When raising the seat back, listen for the locking click and confirm the handle rotates downward into position. Schedule the repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Goshen dealer.
