What's wrong?

On affected 2016-2019 Triumph motorcycles, the clutch cable and main wiring harness are routed near the headstock, the steering area at the front of the frame. A guide behind the headstock is supposed to hold those parts in place so the cable moves without rubbing through the wiring cover.

The original guide allows the clutch cable to contact the main harness sheath. As the bars move and the clutch cable shifts during normal riding, that contact can wear through the cover and damage the wiring inside. Damaged wiring can cut electrical power to circuits such as the headlamp, turn signals, or engine controls.

There is no warning sign before failure. Once the wiring is damaged, the first thing an owner notices can be a headlamp or turn signal that stops working, or an engine stall.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific motorcycle is included.

What's the safety risk?

Loss of electrical power can make the headlight or indicator lighting malfunction or make the engine stall, increasing crash risk. There is no warning sign before failure. If the bike loses power, pull over when safe and arrange service. Repair will be free at any franchised Triumph dealer once available.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2016-2019 Triumph Bonneville T100 Black, Scrambler, Street Twin, Bonneville T120 Black, Street Cup, Street Scrambler, or Bonneville T100 is included in this recall.
  2. Use the Triumph owner letter mailed March 27, 2019 if you have it, or call Triumph customer service for current repair timing.
  3. Ask when the free clutch-cable securing-guide replacement is open for your VIN; the updated guide keeps the clutch cable from damaging the main wiring harness.
  4. Reference recall number 19V133 and Triumph recall SRAN560 when you call Triumph or a franchised Triumph dealer.
  5. Avoid riding if the headlight, indicators, or engine power act abnormally before the repair is complete.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Triumph technician will replace the original securing guide for the clutch cable and main harness with an updated guide. That repair is meant to keep the clutch cable from rubbing the harness cover and damaging wiring. The dealer repair will be free once available, with parts and labor covered under the recall. Triumph's general reimbursement plan applies to this campaign. If you've already paid for this repair, ask Triumph customer service or the dealer how to submit prior repair documentation under that plan.

Frequently asked questions

What is recall 19V133?

Recall 19V133 covers 12,654 2016-2019 Triumph motorcycles with a clutch cable routing problem that can damage wiring in the main harness. Loss of electrical power can affect lighting or stall the engine, increasing crash risk. Triumph dealers replace the securing guide for free.

What should I do if my 2016-2019 Triumph motorcycle is on this recall?

Check your VIN to confirm your specific motorcycle is included in recall 19V133. If it is, contact a franchised Triumph dealer and ask for the SRAN560 clutch cable and main harness securing guide repair. Reference recall 19V133 when you call. The repair is free.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Triumph dealers replace the original securing guide for the clutch cable and main harness with an updated guide free of charge.

What is the safety risk?

The safety risk is loss of electrical power while riding. If the clutch cable damages wiring in the main harness, the headlight or indicator lighting can malfunction, or the engine can stall. That increases crash risk. Schedule the free dealer repair if your VIN is included.

What if I bought my Triumph motorcycle used?

The free recall repair still applies. Federal recall law follows the vehicle, not the first owner. If you never received a Triumph letter, check your VIN to confirm whether your motorcycle is included, then contact a franchised Triumph dealer and reference recall 19V133.
