Recall 19V052 affects 4,455 2014-2019 Acura Ilx vehicles for inaccurate fuel gauge readings. Repair is free at any franchised Acura dealer.
Acura is recalling 4,455 2014-2019 Ilx vehicles because a deformed fuel tank can raise the fuel pump and make the fuel level float stick. The gauge can show more gas than the tank holds, so the vehicle can run out of gas and stall; Acura dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The fuel tank on 2014-2019 Acura Ilx vehicles stores gasoline and holds the fuel pump module inside the tank. That pump sends fuel to the engine, and its float moves with the fuel level so the gauge on the dash can show how much fuel remains.
On the recalled tanks, the bottom of the tank was deformed during manufacturing. The shape change raises the fuel pump module inside the tank and leaves less clearance between the float and the tank wall. When the float catches on that wall, it stops moving with the fuel level. The gauge then shows an inaccurate fuel amount instead of tracking the fuel in the tank.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem an owner notices is the gauge reading wrong or not changing as expected, even though the fuel level in the tank has changed.

What's the safety risk?
An inaccurate fuel gauge can make the tank look fuller than it is. If the vehicle runs out of gas, it can stall and increase the risk of a crash. Keep extra attention on fuel level and schedule the recall inspection soon. Repair is free at any franchised Acura dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2014-2019 Acura Ilx is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Acura dealer to schedule the free fuel-tank inspection and replacement if needed, which fixes the deformed tank that can make the fuel gauge read too high.
- Bring the recall notice if Acura mailed one. If not, reference recall number 19V052 when you call.
- Avoid relying only on the fuel gauge until the dealer completes the repair.
- Keep enough fuel in the vehicle for each trip so it does not run out of gas and stall before the repair.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Acura technician inspects the fuel tank for deformation that raises the fuel pump and lets the fuel level float stick. If the tank is affected, the technician replaces the fuel tank. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. If you already paid out of pocket for a related fuel tank or fuel gauge repair before the recall notice, Acura's general reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring your repair paperwork to the service desk or contact Acura customer service for the claim path.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 19V052?
Recall 19V052 covers 4,455 2014-2019 Acura Ilx vehicles with a deformed fuel tank that can raise the fuel pump and let the fuel level float stick. That can make the fuel gauge show more fuel than the vehicle actually has.
What should I do if my 2014-2019 Acura Ilx is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 19V052. If it is, contact a franchised Acura dealer to schedule the fuel tank inspection and replacement if needed. Reference Acura recall codes H3U and Z3T when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost, and Acura's remedy says dealers will inspect the fuel tank and replace it as needed free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is stalling from an inaccurate fuel gauge. If the gauge shows more fuel than the vehicle actually has, the Acura Ilx can run out of gas while driving, increasing crash risk under recall 19V052.
What if I bought my Acura Ilx used?
The free recall repair still applies. Recall coverage follows the VIN, not the original owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your 2014-2019 Acura Ilx is included, then contact a franchised Acura dealer for the free inspection and repair.
