What's wrong?
The passenger frontal air bag inflator in these Toyota 2010-2017 vehicles is the metal canister inside the front passenger air bag module. Its normal job is to create gas quickly during a crash so the air bag fills between the passenger and the dashboard.
The recalled inflator is a Takata PSPI-6 design that uses non-desiccated ammonium nitrate propellant, which means the chemical charge lacks drying material to control moisture. Long-term exposure to high humidity, high temperatures, and temperature cycling breaks down that propellant. If the air bag deploys after the propellant has degraded, pressure inside the inflator rises unevenly and the inflator can rupture instead of staying contained.
There is no warning sign before failure. The air bag warning light does not have to come on, and the problem is tied to the inflator's internal propellant condition, not a sound, smell, or change you can feel while driving.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.
What's the safety risk?
In this recall, an inflator explosion can send sharp metal fragments into the driver or other occupants, causing serious injury or death. If your VIN is included, schedule the air bag inflator or air bag assembly repair soon and avoid delaying service. Repair is free at any franchised Toyota dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2010-2017 Toyota Sienna, Is F, Corolla, Corolla Matrix, 4RUNNER, Xb, GX460, Is 250C, ES350, Is 350C, Is 350, or Is 250 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Toyota dealer to schedule the free passenger frontal air bag inflator or air bag assembly replacement.
- Reference recall number 19V005 when you call, and give the dealer Toyota recall code G0P, G0R, or H0A if it appears on your notice.
- Bring the recall notice if Toyota sent one, but do not wait for a letter if your VIN is included.
- Limit front passenger seat use until the repair is complete because an inflator explosion can send sharp metal fragments into the cabin.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Toyota technician replaces the front passenger air bag inflator or the full passenger air bag assembly, depending on the vehicle model. The recall repair is free, with parts and labor covered by Toyota. Toyota used its standard reimbursement plan for this campaign. If you've already paid for a related passenger air bag inflator or air bag assembly repair before the recall notice, ask Toyota customer service or the dealer service desk how to submit documentation for reimbursement.
