Recall 18V826 covers 21,740 2018-2019 International automated manual transmission trucks because clutch failure can cause unintended movement. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
International is recalling 21,740 2018-2019 Rh, Mv, Lonestar, and other automated manual transmission trucks with Eaton ECA heavy-duty truck clutches because an internal clutch component can fail and let the vehicle move unintentionally. That movement increases crash risk, and International dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The 2018-2019 International trucks in this recall use an Eaton ECA heavy-duty clutch with an automated manual transmission. The clutch connects engine power to the transmission when the truck needs to move and releases that connection when the driver commands neutral. For neutral to work, the clutch has to separate cleanly so torque is no longer being sent through the driveline.
On affected trucks, an internal clutch component did not meet manufacturing standards. That component can fail inside the clutch assembly, leaving the transmission from reaching neutral after the driver commands it. When torque stays applied, the driveline can push against the parking brakes and the recall addresses unintended vehicle movement from that condition.
Drivers have warning signs to watch for. When neutral is commanded while the truck is running, an audible warning can continue until neutral is achieved, and the instrument panel can alternate between "AN" and the engaged gear. If the parking brake is set, the truck can also show increased vibration, noises, or cab rocking.

What's the safety risk?
If the transmission does not reach neutral after you select neutral, the truck can move unintentionally and increase the risk of a crash. Watch for the audible warning, an instrument panel that alternates between "AN" and the engaged gear, or vibration, noise, or cab rocking with the parking brake set. Repair is free at any franchised International dealer.
