What's wrong?

The electrical circuit for the power converter on 2018-2019 Grand Design Reflection fifth wheel trailers feeds power through wiring in the front bulkhead storage area. The 50 amp mini-breaker on the bus bar is supposed to protect that converter circuit. If current rises above a safe level, the breaker is supposed to open the circuit before wiring overheats.

On affected Reflection trailers, the mini-breaker was installed upside down at the bus bar. That reversed the colored terminal connections and left the converter circuit wired backwards. Because of that wiring error, the breaker did not provide over-current protection for the circuit it was meant to guard.

There is no warning sign before failure. The problem shows up only when an over-current condition happens, so an owner will not hear, feel, or see a normal towing or camping warning beforehand.

Who's affected?

Spans the 2018 and 2019 Reflection model years, with wiring listed for both years.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific trailer is included.

What's the safety risk?

An electrical short circuit in the unprotected circuit can increase the risk of a fire. This fault can happen without warning during an over-current event, so treat this as a repair to schedule before the trailer is used again. Repair is free at any franchised Grand Design dealer.

What should I do?

  1. Check your VIN to confirm your 2018-2019 Grand Design Reflection is included in this recall.
  2. Contact a franchised Grand Design dealer to schedule the free inspection and correction for the unprotected power-converter circuit.
  3. Reference recall number 18V764 and Grand Design recall 910017 when you call.
  4. Bring the recall notice if Grand Design sent one.
  5. Avoid using the trailer's power converter until the dealer confirms the 50-amp mini breaker and circuit wiring are correct.

What happens at the repair

At the dealer, a Grand Design technician inspects the trailer wiring to confirm the 50-amp mini breaker at the bus bar is installed correctly and that the power converter circuit is wired correctly. If the breaker or wiring is wrong, the dealer corrects it at no charge. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. If you paid to have this service performed before the recall repair, Grand Design says it will reimburse you immediately. Bring the repair invoice or other service paperwork to the service desk so the claim can be handled.
