Recall 18V749 affects 4 2007 E-One Classic Fire emergency vehicles for pump warning lamps wired incorrectly. Repair is free at any franchised E-One dealer.
E-One is recalling 4 2007 Classic Fire emergency vehicles equipped with Kubota Diesel Powered Portable Pumps because wiring errors can keep the oil pressure and temperature warning lamps from lighting when needed. Without those warnings, pump engine failure can inhibit firefighting and increase injury risk; E-One dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The 2007 E-One Classic Fire uses a Kubota diesel powered portable pump supplied by Hale Products. The pump has oil pressure and temperature warning lamps that tell the operator when the pump engine has a pressure or heat problem. Those lamps also perform a simple bulb check when the switch is turned to the run position before the engine starts.
On affected vehicles, the LED connector lamp wiring is incorrect on older pump harness revisions A through C for part number 200779. Because of that wiring error, the oil pressure and temperature lamps do not illuminate when they are needed. A corrected harness carries label 200779 REV D, which separates the updated version from the older wiring.
The warning sign appears during startup. When the switch is in the run position before starting the engine, the oil pressure lamp does not illuminate.

What's the safety risk?
Inoperable warning lamps leave the operator without a clear alert that the pump engine has a problem. If the pump engine fails, fire containment is reduced and injury risk increases. Before starting, the oil pressure lamp fails to illuminate with the switch in run. Repair is free at any franchised E-One dealer.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an E-One technician corrects the pump warning circuit by reversing the wires leading to the warning indicators, or installs the plug-in wire harness provided by Hale. The work is free under the recall, including the parts and labor tied to the wiring correction. Hale's reimbursement plan covers labor cost for this remedy. If you already paid for related wiring labor before the recall repair, keep the repair paperwork and ask E-One customer service or the dealer how to submit it.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 18V749?
Recall 18V749 covers 4 2007 E-One Classic Fire emergency vehicles with Kubota diesel portable pumps. The oil pressure and temperature warning lamps were identified for incorrect wiring, so the lamps can fail to illuminate when the pump engine has a problem.
What should I do if my 2007 E-One Classic Fire is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific emergency vehicle is included in recall 18V749. If it is, contact a franchised E-One dealer and reference recall 18V749. The dealer will reverse the warning-lamp wires, or Hale will provide the plug-in wire harness.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and E-One's remedy states that dealers will reverse the wires or Hale will provide a plug-in wire harness free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is loss of warning before a pump engine problem. If the oil pressure or temperature lamps do not work, operators lose the normal alert that the pump engine needs attention. Pump engine failure can inhibit fire containment and increase injury risk.
