What's wrong?
The auxiliary solar charging port on 2018-2019 Gulf Stream Conquest and B Touring Cruiser motorhomes lets an owner connect a solar charger to help charge the house battery. That circuit is the wiring path between the outside charging port and the battery. A fuse in that path is supposed to act as a weak link: if electrical current gets too high, the fuse opens before the wiring overheats.
On affected motorhomes, the solar charging port circuit was built without that inline fuse at the house battery. The problem came from an omitted overcurrent protection device during installation. Without the fuse, an electrical overload in the solar charging circuit is not stopped at the battery connection, so the wiring does not have the intended protection.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner is not expected to hear, see, or feel a change that confirms the missing fuse before the circuit is overloaded.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 18V714?
Recall 18V714 covers 605 2018-2019 Gulf Stream Conquest and B Touring Cruiser motorhomes with an auxiliary solar charging port circuit that is not fused. If connected solar panels exceed the circuit's amperage capacity, the unprotected circuit can increase fire risk.
What should I do if my 2018-2019 Gulf Stream Conquest or B Touring Cruiser is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific motorhome is included in recall 18V714. If it is, contact a Gulf Stream dealer to schedule the circuit protection installation. Reference recall 18V714 when you call. The dealer repair is free.
