2019 Grand Design Reflection Recall 18V637: GFI Outlet

Recall 18V637 covers 53 2019 Grand Design Reflection travel trailers with an outside 110V outlet wired without GFI protection. Grand Design dealers repair it free.

Grand Design is recalling 53 2019 Reflection travel trailers because the outside 110V outlet was not wired to a ground-fault protected circuit. If an appliance or component plugged into that outlet has an electrical issue, the defect can expose a person to electrical shock and increase injury risk; Grand Design dealers will repair it free of charge.

What's wrong?

The outside 110V outlet on the 2019 Grand Design Reflection is the exterior receptacle used for plug-in equipment outside the trailer. That outlet is supposed to be protected by a ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFI. A GFI watches for electricity taking an unsafe path to ground and shuts the circuit off when that happens.

On affected Reflection trailers, the curb-side outside outlet was wired incorrectly during production. Because of that wiring error, the outlet is not on a GFI-protected circuit. The outlet still supplies power, but it does not have the required ground-fault protection Grand Design intended for that exterior receptacle.

There is no warning sign before failure. The outlet can look normal, accept a plug, and power equipment even though the protection is missing.

The recall repair is free and parts and labor are covered. If you already paid to have this repair performed, Grand Design says it will reimburse all expenses. Bring repair paperwork and proof of payment to the service desk, or contact Grand Design customer service for the claim process.
