What's wrong?
The wheelchair lift on affected 2013-2017 Coach And Equipment Phoenix, Metro Lite, Condor Lt, and Pegasus transit buses is the powered platform that raises a passenger from curb level to the bus floor. These buses use Ricon S-Series and K-Series Titanium wheelchair lifts. During normal operation, the lift position system tells the lift when the platform has reached floor height so it stops in the right place.
The defect is in the positioning input cam, the part that works with the cutoff switch to stop upward travel at floor level. If the cam fails and the operator keeps pressing the up button on the pendant, the cutoff switch does not stop the platform at the floor. The occupied platform can rise higher than the vehicle floor height while the lift is in use.
The warning sign is visible during lift operation. The occupied platform starts to rise past the vehicle floor height instead of stopping level with the bus floor.

What's the safety risk?
The wheelchair user can tip inward toward the vehicle while exiting if the lift platform stops above the vehicle floor, increasing the risk of injury. If the occupied platform rises past vehicle floor height, stop the lift process and call the dealer before another occupied lift cycle. Repair is free at any franchised Coach And Equipment dealer.
