What's wrong?
The windshield wiper arms on the 2019 Jayco Precept and Alante motorhomes hold the wiper blades against the glass. When the driver turns the wipers on, the arms supply spring pressure so the blades sweep water across the windshield instead of skimming over it. That pressure matters most at highway speeds, when airflow pushes against the blades.
On affected motorhomes, the new wiper arms from the supplier were built to the wrong specifications for Jayco's windshield system. The arms did not hold the blades firmly enough against the windshield. With the wipers set on high while traveling at highway speeds, the arms lift away from the glass and leave parts of the windshield uncleared.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem shows up while driving in rain or spray, when the wipers are on high and the blades stop clearing the windshield properly.
Who's affected?
Covers both the Precept and Alante model lines for the 2019 model year, with the same wiper system component listed for each.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific motorhome is included.
What's the safety risk?
Wiper system failure can reduce the driver's visibility and increase the risk of a crash. If visibility drops, pull over when safe and avoid continuing in rain or spray until the vehicle is checked. Repair will be free at any franchised Jayco dealer once available.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2019 Jayco Precept or Alante is included in this recall.
- Contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137 to confirm the repair timing for your VIN.
- Ask a franchised Jayco dealer about the free wiper-system replacement that restores windshield clearing at highway speed.
- Bring the recall notice if Jayco mailed one. If not, reference recall number 18V445 when you call.
- Drive cautiously in rain until the repair is complete. Slow down, increase following distance, and avoid the high wiper-speed setting when it lifts the wiper arms.
What happens at the repair
The source record says the repair is a replacement wiper system that meets the required windshield wiping standard. Once the final dealer repair is available, a Jayco technician will replace the wiper system free under the recall, including parts and labor. If you already paid for a related wiper repair before the recall work was available, Jayco has a general reimbursement plan on file. Contact Jayco customer service with your repair paperwork and ask how to submit documentation for campaign 9903403.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 18V445?
Recall 18V445 covers 124 2019 Jayco Precept and Alante motorhomes with windshield wiper arms that can lift away from the windshield at highway speed when the wipers are set to high. That reduces visibility and increases crash risk. Jayco dealers will replace the wiper system for free.
What should I do if my 2019 Jayco Precept or Alante is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific motorhome is included in recall 18V445. If it is, contact a franchised Jayco dealer to schedule the free wiper system replacement. Reference recall number 18V445 or Jayco recall number 9903403 when you call.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Jayco's remedy says dealers will replace the wiper system free of charge. The free repair applies through franchised Jayco service, regardless of where the motorhome was purchased.
What is the safety risk?
The risk is reduced driver visibility in wet conditions. At highway speeds, the wiper arms can lift away from the windshield when the wipers are on high, which reduces the wipers' ability to clear the glass and increases crash risk.
When were owners notified about this Jayco recall?
Jayco notified owners, and the recall began on July 30, 2018. If you own a 2019 Jayco Precept or Alante and never received a letter, check your VIN and call Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137 or a franchised Jayco dealer.
