Recall 18V322 affects 1,669 2008-2018 Mcneilus Bridgemaster V Mixer concrete mixers for hydraulic-tank overpressure and rupture risk. Repair is free at any franchised Mcneilus dealer.
Mcneilus is recalling 1,669 2008-2018 Bridgemaster V Mixer concrete mixers because an optional composite hydraulic tank can overpressurize and rupture when the filler neck check valve seals too tightly. A rupture can spill hot hydraulic fluid, send plastic debris outward, and create a road hazard; Mcneilus dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
On 2008-2018 Mcneilus Bridgemaster V Mixer trucks with the optional composite material hydraulic tank, the tank stores fluid for the truck's hydraulic equipment. The filler neck is the opening used to add fluid, and its check valve is supposed to help control pressure while keeping fluid in the tank.
The problem is that the filler neck check valve can seal the tank too tightly. Pressure can build if the tank is overfilled, or if a leaking Bridgemaster axle raise/lower cylinder seal lets nitrogen from the accumulator bleed into the tank. When that pressure has nowhere to vent, the composite tank can overpressurize and rupture. The repaired filler neck has 5 vent holes; the old design has one.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or fleet technician should not count on a light, sound, or handling change before the tank ruptures.
