Recall 18V295 covers 207,483 2014-2017 GMC Savana and Express vehicles for driver-window-switch corrosion. Repair is free at any franchised GMC dealer.
GMC is recalling 207,483 2014-2017 Savana and Express vans equipped with power windows because liquid can leak into the driver's power window switch and corrode it. The corrosion can create high electrical resistance and increase the risk of a fire, and dealers will replace the switch free of charge.

What's wrong?
The driver's power window switch in affected 2014-2017 Savana and Express vans controls the electric circuit that raises and lowers the driver's window. When the switch works normally, it sends a clean electrical signal through the door wiring so the window motor moves only when commanded. The switch also needs to stay dry enough for the circuit board inside it to keep normal resistance.
On these vans, liquid can get into the driver's window switch. Corrosion then builds on the circuit board and raises electrical resistance, which means the circuit has to push current through a damaged path. That extra resistance can overheat the switch area inside the door panel. The updated switch uses added circuit-board coating, more clearance inside the housing, and drain holes to reduce liquid buildup.
Owners can notice the driver's power window working poorly or not working at all. Smoke, a smoke odor, or a melting smell from the door panel are warning signs that the switch area is overheating.

What's the safety risk?
High electrical resistance in the driver side window switch can raise the risk of a fire. A failed power window, smoke, or a smoke or melting odor from the door panel is a warning sign. Stop using the window switch and schedule service soon. Repair is free at any franchised GMC dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2014-2017 Savana or Express with power windows is included in this GMC recall.
- Contact a franchised GMC dealer to schedule the free driver-side window switch replacement that fixes corrosion and high electrical resistance in the switch.
- Bring the recall notice if you have it. If not, reference recall number 18V295 when you call.
- Keep liquids away from the driver-side window switch until the repair is complete.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a GMC technician replaces the driver side power window switch. That switch is the part that can corrode after liquid gets inside, so the repair removes the affected switch and installs a replacement. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. If you already paid for a related driver side window switch repair before the recall notice, GMC's reimbursement plan covers documented expenses. Bring receipts or repair paperwork to the service desk and ask how to submit the claim under this campaign.
