What's wrong?
The rear left hand side window on the 2018 Mci J4500 is part of the coach body and passenger visibility system. It is supposed to stay bonded to the body while the coach flexes, vibrates, and moves at road speed. Adhesive holds the glass in place, and retention hardware gives the window added support.
On affected coaches, the adhesive between the window and body was applied inconsistently during production. The secondary retention fasteners also failed when they were over tightened or glued improperly. With weak bonding or failed fasteners, the window can loosen from the body and separate while the coach is in operation.
The early warning sign is visible window separation from outside the coach. Operators or owners can also hear increased air noise from the rear of the vehicle when the window has partly separated.

What's the safety risk?
A separating left rear window can detach while the J4500 is moving, creating a road hazard that increases the risk of a crash or injury. Check the outside of the rear window area and treat new rear air noise as a warning sign. Schedule the inspection soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mci dealer.
What should I do?

- Bring the recall notice if Mci mailed one. If not, reference recall number 18V225 and Mci recall SB 463 when you call.
- Avoid operating the coach with a loose rear left window, and keep passengers away from that area until the dealer has checked it.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Mci technician checks the rear left hand window to confirm it is securely installed. If the window fails inspection or testing, the technician corrects the installation, repairs or replaces the window as needed, and installs retaining clips. The recall repair is free. Mci covers the inspection, testing, related labor, retaining clips, and needed parts under the recall.
