Recall 18V213 covers 142 2017-2018 Navigator, Mustang, Expedition, and F-150 vehicles for a missing roll pin. Free repair at any franchised Lincoln dealer.
Lincoln is recalling 142 2017-2018 vehicles, including Navigator, Mustang, Expedition, and F-150 models equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions, because a missing transmission roll pin can let the vehicle lose its Park function. Even when the shifter and display show Park, the vehicle can roll away after exit if the parking brake is not applied; Lincoln dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission in the 2017-2018 Navigator, Mustang, Expedition, and F-150 uses a park pawl to hold the vehicle still when Park is selected. The park pawl is a metal locking piece inside the transmission. A small roll pin secures the park pawl rod guide cup to the transmission case so the rod stays aligned when the shifter is moved into Park.
On affected vehicles, that roll pin was left out during transmission assembly. Without the pin, the guide cup is not properly secured to the transmission case. The transmission can appear to shift into Park, but the park mechanism does not hold the vehicle in place, so the vehicle can roll after the driver exits.
There is no warning sign before failure. The first sign is the vehicle moving after Park is selected, so the parking brake matters every time the vehicle is parked.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether this recall applies to your specific vehicle.
What's the safety risk?
A missing transmission roll pin can let the vehicle roll away after you exit, even when the shifter and instrument panel both show Park. That raises the risk of injury or a crash if the parking brake is not applied. Apply the parking brake every time you park until the vehicle is inspected. Repair is free at any franchised Lincoln dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2017-2018 Navigator, Mustang, Expedition, or F-150 is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Lincoln dealer to schedule the free transmission inspection and roll-pin installation that fixes the missing pin tied to loss of the Park function.
- Bring the recall notice if Lincoln has mailed one. If not, reference recall number 18V213 when you call.
- Set the parking brake every time before you exit the vehicle until the repair is complete.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Lincoln technician inspects the 10-speed automatic transmission to confirm the roll pin is installed. If the roll pin is missing, the technician installs one so the transmission can hold Park as designed. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. The reimbursement statement excludes separate repayment because the original warranty program provides a free repair for this concern. Prior paid repairs are handled through warranty coverage, not a separate reimbursement program.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 18V213?
Recall 18V213 covers 142 2017-2018 Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, Expedition, and F-150 vehicles with 10-speed automatic transmissions. A missing transmission roll pin can prevent the Park function from holding the vehicle, creating rollaway risk after the driver exits.
What should I do if my 2017-2018 Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, Expedition, or F-150 is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific vehicle is included in recall 18V213. If it is, contact a franchised Lincoln dealer to schedule the transmission inspection. Ask the dealer to reference recall 18V213 or manufacturer recall number 18S09. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. A Lincoln dealer will inspect the transmission for the roll pin and install one if it is missing, free of charge.
What is the safety risk?
The vehicle can roll away even when the shift lever is in Park and the instrument panel shows Park. If the parking brake is not applied before the driver exits, the vehicle can move and increase the risk of injury or a crash.
When did the recall repair start?
The recall repair began on April 13, 2018. Because the remedy is available, an included vehicle can be inspected by a franchised Lincoln dealer now. The dealer checks whether the transmission has the roll pin and installs one if needed.
