Recall 18V163 affects 9,480 2011-2017 Fccc Xcm, Xbr, Xcl, and Xcr chassis for a misrouted power steering hose. Free repair at a franchised Fccc dealer.
Fccc is recalling 9,480 2011-2017 Xcm, Xbr, Xcl, and Xcr recreational vehicle chassis with Cummins ISL engines because the power steering hose is routed too close to the starter motor power stud. Contact between the hose and stud can cause electrical arcing and a power steering fluid leak, which increases the risk of a fire; Fccc dealers will complete the recall repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The power steering hose on 2011-2017 Fccc Xcm, Xbr, Xcl, and Xcr RV chassis carries hydraulic fluid for the steering assist system. When you turn the wheel, pressurized fluid helps move the steering gear so the driver does not have to supply all of the force. The hose has to stay clear of hot or electrically powered parts while the chassis is in use.
On these chassis, the hose routing leaves it too close to the power stud on the starter motor. That stud is an exposed electrical connection that supplies power to the starter. If the hose rubs against it, the contact can cause electrical arcing and damage the hose. Once the hose is damaged, power steering fluid can leak near the starter area.
There is no warning sign before failure. The first thing an owner notices can be heavier steering effort, fluid on the ground, smoke, or signs of heat near the starter area.

The year and model narrow the scope, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific vehicle is included.
What's the safety risk?
Electrical arcing near leaking power steering fluid raises the risk of a fire. If your VIN is included, schedule the hose rerouting promptly and avoid driving with any known power steering fluid leak. Repair is free at any franchised Fccc dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2011-2017 Fccc Xcm, Xbr, Xcl, or Xcr recreational vehicle chassis is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Fccc dealer to schedule the free power steering hose rerouting that gives the hose proper clearance from the starter motor power stud.
- Bring the recall notice if DTNA has sent one. If not, reference recall number 18V163 and DTNA recall FL-762 when you call.
- Limit driving until the repair is complete, and stop using the vehicle if you notice a power steering fluid leak.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Fccc technician reroutes the power steering hose so it has proper clearance from the power stud on the starter motor. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. The goal is to stop the hose from rubbing against the starter area, which protects the hose and keeps the power steering fluid path away from electrical arcing risk. Once the hose is rerouted, the dealer returns the chassis after the recall work is complete.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 18V163?
Recall 18V163 covers 9,480 2011-2017 Fccc Xcm, Xbr, Xcl, and Xcr recreational vehicle chassis with Cummins ISL engines. The power steering hose is routed incorrectly and can rub the starter motor power stud, causing electrical arcing and a fluid leak that increases fire risk. Fccc dealers will reroute the hose for free.
What should I do if my 2011-2017 Fccc Xcm, Xbr, Xcl, or Xcr is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific chassis is included in recall 18V163. If it is, contact a franchised Fccc dealer to schedule the power steering hose rerouting. Reference recall number 18V163 or Fccc recall FL-762 when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and the recall remedy says dealers will reroute the power steering hose to provide proper clearance free of charge. Parts and labor are covered at a franchised Fccc dealer.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is fire. If the power steering hose rubs the starter motor power stud, electrical arcing and leaking power steering fluid can be present in the same area. That combination increases fire risk, so confirm your VIN and schedule the free dealer repair if your chassis is included.
What if I bought this Fccc chassis used?
The free recall repair still applies. Federal recall law follows the vehicle, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific Fccc chassis is included, then call a franchised Fccc dealer and reference recall 18V163 or FL-762 when you schedule service.
