Rolls-Royce is recalling 3 2018 Ghost vehicles under recall 18V097 because assembly damage can keep the head air bags from fully inflating upon deployment. A head air bag that does not inflate properly in a crash increases the risk of injury, and Rolls-Royce dealers will replace the affected air bags free of charge.

What's wrong?
The head air bags in the 2018 Rolls-Royce Ghost are curtain-style safety bags mounted along the upper cabin area near the roofline. In a qualifying crash, they deploy beside the occupants' heads to add a cushion between the person and the side glass or interior trim. For that protection to work, the bag has to be intact and able to inflate to its designed shape.
On affected Ghost vehicles, the problem started during assembly. The headliner, the finished panel that covers the inside of the roof, was not installed to specification. During that work, the head air bags were damaged. A damaged bag can deploy with less than full inflation, so it does not provide the full protection Rolls-Royce designed into the system.
There is no warning sign before failure. The air bag damage is hidden behind interior trim, so an owner will not see, hear, or feel the problem during normal driving.

What's the safety risk?
In a crash, a head air bag that does not inflate properly leaves occupants with less protection and increases the risk of injury. Have the vehicle inspected and repaired promptly if your VIN is included. Repair is free at any franchised Rolls-Royce dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2018 Rolls-Royce Ghost is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Rolls-Royce dealer to schedule the free head air bag inspection and replacement.
- Ask the dealer to confirm whether the head air bags were already inspected or replaced before delivery.
- Reference recall number 18V097 when you call; Rolls-Royce said no owner letters were sent because affected vehicles had not been delivered to customers.
- Drive with caution until the inspection is complete, because a head air bag that does not inflate properly in a crash increases injury risk.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Rolls-Royce technician inspects the head air bags on the covered 2018 Ghost vehicles and replaces any damaged head air bag, free of charge. Rolls-Royce says none of the affected vehicles were delivered to customers, so owner letters are not being sent. Reimbursement is not offered for this campaign because there are no customer-owned vehicles with this condition. Parts and labor are covered under the recall.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 18V097?
Recall 18V097 covers 3 2018 Rolls-Royce Ghost vehicles with head air bags flagged for possible assembly damage. If a head air bag does not fully inflate in a crash, injury risk increases. Rolls-Royce dealers will inspect and replace the head air bags for free.
What should I do if my 2018 Rolls-Royce Ghost is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific Ghost is included in recall 18V097. If it is, contact a franchised Rolls-Royce dealer for the head-air-bag inspection and any needed replacement. Reference recall number 18V097 when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires manufacturers to repair safety defects at no cost, and Rolls-Royce will inspect and replace the affected head air bags as needed free of charge at a franchised Rolls-Royce dealer.
What is the safety risk?
The safety risk is improper head air bag inflation during a crash. If the head air bag does not fully inflate, the occupant has less crash protection, which increases injury risk. Rolls-Royce dealers fix the issue by inspecting and replacing the affected air bags as needed.
Will Rolls-Royce mail owner letters for this recall?
No. The recall filing says none of the affected vehicles had been delivered to customers, so owner notification letters were not sent. A VIN check still confirms whether a specific 2018 Ghost is included before dealer service.
