Land Rover is recalling 8,211 2018 Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar vehicles with 2.0L gasoline engines because fuel rail end caps can leak fuel vapor or liquid fuel into the engine bay. A leak near hot engine or exhaust parts raises the risk of fire, and the Land Rover dealer repair is free.

What's wrong?
The fuel rail on 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, and Range Rover Velar vehicles with the 2.0L gasoline engine is a rigid tube that feeds pressurized fuel to the engine's fuel injectors. End caps close the ends of that rail, so gasoline stays sealed inside while the engine is running.
On affected vehicles, those end caps were not brazed consistently. Brazing is the heated metal-joining process that seals the cap to the rail. When the joint is incomplete, high fuel pressure and pressure pulses inside the rail can fatigue the joint over time. Once that seal opens, fuel vapor or liquid fuel can leak into the engine bay.
The warning sign is fuel odor, including a gasoline smell inside the passenger compartment. If the hood is lifted, liquid fuel can also be visible near the engine-mounted fuel rail.
Who's affected?

What's the safety risk?
A fuel leak near hot engine or exhaust parts can increase the risk of a fire. Fuel odor while driving or visible liquid fuel under the hood is a warning sign. If either happens, pull over safely and call the dealer before continuing. Schedule the recall repair soon. Repair is free at any franchised Land Rover dealer.
