What's wrong?
The high pressure fuel pump on the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover pressurizes gasoline before it reaches the engine's fuel-injection system. It has to stay firmly mounted so the connected fuel line stays aligned and sealed. The pump is held in place by bolts that clamp it against its mounting point.
On this vehicle, some pump bolts used during assembly were too long for the threaded holes. The longer bolts reached the bottom of the blind holes before they fully clamped the pump in place. That left the high pressure fuel pump not properly secured. Pump movement or stress at the connection can crack the fuel line and let gasoline leak.
The warning signs are a fuel odor noticed by the driver or liquid fuel underneath the vehicle. If you smell fuel or see liquid fuel under the Range Rover, treat that as the warning sign described in recall 17V490.

What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Land Rover technician replaces both fuel pumps and the associated fuel lines. The work addresses the pump and fuel line assembly involved in recall 17V490, where an overlong pump mounting bolt left the pump less secure and created a fuel leak risk. Parts and labor are covered under the recall. Land Rover's standard reimbursement plan applies to documented out-of-pocket repairs paid before the recall notice. Bring prior repair paperwork to the service desk or contact Land Rover customer service to ask how to submit it.
