What's wrong?
On the 2017 Terex Advance Front Discharge Concrete mixer, the 250 gallon pressurized water tank stores water used around the mixer body and job site. The filler neck is the opening and short neck assembly used to fill that tank. Its welds are supposed to hold the neck tightly to the tank while the tank is under pressure.
On affected mixers, the welds that attach the filler neck were not made to the required quality. Terex Advance traced the problem to improper employee training at the tank supplier during production in November 2016. A weak weld at that joint can fail, allowing the filler neck to break away from the pressurized tank instead of staying sealed and attached.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner or operator should not count on a leak, noise, or visible crack to appear first. The relevant difference is the water tank serial number, because tanks outside the impacted serial numbers are not part of this defect.
