Recall 17V184 affects 56,766 2013-2014 Nissan Murano vehicles for a power-steering-hose clamp defect that can leak fluid. Repair is free at any franchised Nissan dealer.
Nissan is recalling 56,766 2013-2014 Murano vehicles because the power steering hose clamp can fail to hold the hose in place, so power steering fluid leaks. If that fluid reaches hot engine or exhaust parts, fire risk increases, and Nissan dealers will inspect and secure the hose free of charge.

What's wrong?
The power steering hose on the 2013-2014 Nissan Murano carries hydraulic fluid between the power steering pump, lines, and steering gear. That fluid helps the system add assist when you turn the wheel, especially at low speed. The hose connection depends on a clamp that holds the hose tight enough to keep fluid sealed inside.
On affected Muranos, the clamp was made with the wrong diameter because of a supplier manufacturing error. The clamp does not grip the hose firmly enough over time. If the hose separates from its fitting, power steering fluid leaks out and the steering system loses the fluid pressure it needs for normal assist.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner first notices the problem when fluid leaks or steering effort changes after the hose has already separated.
Who's affected?
Both listed model years involve the same power steering system component.

The year and model narrow the list, but the VIN decides. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific SUV is included.
What's the safety risk?
If power steering fluid leaks onto hot engine or exhaust components, it can increase the risk of a fire. Schedule the hose-kit repair soon and avoid postponing service if you notice fluid loss or a burning odor. Repair is free at any franchised Nissan dealer.
