What's wrong?
The second row center seat in the 2016 Honda Odyssey uses a horizontal adjuster bar to lock and release the seat position. When the bar works correctly, it lets the seat slide for adjustment, then locks the seat back into place so it stays fixed while the vehicle is moving.
On included Odyssey vehicles, the adjuster bar and seat bracket do not have enough clearance. Honda traced that clearance problem to a bend angle that was out of specification and a mounting surface depth that was out of specification. With those parts too close together, the adjuster bar can stick in the unlocked position instead of returning to the locked position.
There is no warning sign before failure. The problem is inside the seat adjustment mechanism, so an owner is not given a light, sound, or clear change in feel before the seat slides unexpectedly.

What's the safety risk?
An unlocked second row center seat leaves the occupant less securely positioned in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Have the seat inspected soon, and avoid using that seating position until a dealer checks the slide function. Repair is free at any franchised Honda dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2016 Honda Odyssey is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Honda dealer to schedule the free slide-function inspection and horizontal position adjustment bar replacement that fixes the second-row center seat sliding unexpectedly.
- Bring the recall notice if Honda mailed one, and reference recall number 16V932 when you call.
- Ask Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 about recall KD4 if the dealer cannot find the campaign.
- Use extra care with the second-row center seat until the dealer confirms the slide function locks correctly.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Honda technician inspects the slide function for the second row center seat. If the horizontal position adjustment bar sticks or does not hold the seat correctly, the technician repairs or replaces that bar. The recall repair is free of charge. Reimbursement for repairs before the owner notice is not offered as a separate program because the new vehicle warranty would have covered this problem without owner payment. Ask the Honda service desk how warranty coverage applies if you have prior repair paperwork.

Frequently asked questions
What is recall 16V932?
Recall 16V932 covers 7,549 2016 Honda Odyssey vehicles with a second row center seat adjuster bar that can stick unlocked, allowing the seat to slide unexpectedly. Honda dealers will inspect the slide function and replace the horizontal position adjustment bar for free.
What should I do if my 2016 Honda Odyssey is on this recall?
Check your VIN to confirm your specific Odyssey is included in recall 16V932. If it is, contact a franchised Honda dealer to schedule the seat inspection and repair. Reference Honda recall number KD4 when you call. The repair is free.
Is the recall repair free?
Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost. Honda dealers will inspect the second row center seat slide function and replace the horizontal position adjustment bar, as needed, free of charge.
Is it safe to drive my 2016 Honda Odyssey before the repair?
Honda did not issue a do-not-drive instruction for recall 16V932. The safety risk is tied to the second row center seat sliding while unlocked, which increases injury risk for that seat occupant in a crash. Limit use of that seating position until a Honda dealer inspects it.
What if I bought my Honda Odyssey used?
The free recall repair still applies. Federal recall law follows the vehicle, not the first owner. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific 2016 Odyssey is included, then call a franchised Honda dealer or Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 with recall number KD4.
