A stuck accelerator can lead to very high speeds and make the vehicle hard to stop, increasing crash, serious injury, or death risk; Chevrolet dealers will complete the free repair.

What's wrong?
The accelerator pedal in the affected 2014-2016 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 4500, Low Cab Forward 3500, Npr Hd, and Npr trucks controls engine power. When you press the pedal, the throttle opens. When you lift your foot, the pedal is supposed to return and let the engine slow back down.
On these gasoline trucks, the pedal can move sideways farther than intended. That extra lateral movement lets the pedal stopper plate catch below the outer head of the steel stopper bolt. If that happens, the pedal stays trapped in the full throttle position even after the driver lifts off the accelerator.
There is no warning sign before failure. An owner would notice the problem only when the truck keeps accelerating or does not slow as expected after the accelerator pedal is released.
Who's affected?
Covers 4 low-cab truck lines across the 2014, 2015, and 2016 model years, all tied to accelerator pedal control.

What's the safety risk?

What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2014-2016 Chevrolet Low Cab Forward 4500, Npr Hd, Low Cab Forward 3500, or Npr is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Chevrolet dealer to schedule the free throttle-pedal stopper-bolt replacement that keeps the pedal from sticking at full throttle.
- Bring the recall notice if Chevrolet has mailed one. If not, reference recall number 16V797 when you call.
- Drive with extra care until the repair is complete, and stop safely if the accelerator pedal does not return normally.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Chevrolet technician removes the stopper bolt at the throttle pedal and replaces it with a flanged plate that keeps the throttle from moving sideways and catching. The recall repair is free, including parts and labor. If you've already paid out of pocket to replace the acceleration pedal for this problem, the manufacturer's standard reimbursement policy covers documented expenses. Bring the repair paperwork to the service desk so it can be reviewed under the campaign.
