What's wrong?
The final drive pulley on the 2016-2017 Ducati Xdiavel transfers engine power through the belt drive to the rear wheel. A retaining nut clamps that pulley to the countershaft so the pulley turns with the shaft instead of slipping on it. The side stand plate screws hold the stand bracket in place so the parked motorcycle rests at the intended angle.
On included Xdiavel motorcycles, the specified tightening torque does not always create enough axial preload, which means enough clamping force along the shaft. The pulley retaining nut can lose its hold, letting the pulley spin on the countershaft and interrupt power delivery to the rear wheel. The lower side stand plate screw can also lose clamping force, which lets the motorcycle lean farther than intended while parked.
There is no warning sign before failure for the final drive pulley nut. For the side stand plate screw, the rider can notice an excessive lean angle when the motorcycle is parked on the side stand.

What's the safety risk?
A final drive pulley retaining nut problem can lead to loss of power transmission to the rear wheel, which increases crash risk. There is no warning sign before that failure. If the bike leans excessively on the side stand, call the dealer before riding again. Repair is free at any franchised Ducati dealer.
