Recall 16V510 affects 63 2015-2016 Mci J4500 buses for loose passenger-window hardware. Repair is free at any franchised Mci dealer.
Mci is recalling 63 2015-2016 J4500 buses under recall 16V510 because non-egress single-pane passenger windows have improperly installed mounting hardware that lets the windows open unexpectedly at the bottom. In a crash or contact with the window, an open window can allow passenger ejection and increase injury risk; Mci dealers will complete the repair free of charge.

What's wrong?
The passenger side windows on 2015-2016 Mci J4500 coaches use mounting brackets and bolts to hold the single pane glass in position. These are non-egress windows, so they are meant to stay secured in the opening rather than serve as emergency exits. The hardware keeps the lower edge of the window tight against the coach body during normal vibration and road movement.
On affected coaches, the bolts that secure the mounting brackets were not tightened enough during assembly. As the coach is driven, vibration can loosen the brackets further. If the brackets detach, the bottom of the window can open unexpectedly and the glass can swing outward, creating an injury risk for passengers.
The warning sign is a rattling window. If the bolts are loose, the window is expected to rattle before the mounting brackets come loose.

A matching year and model does not guarantee inclusion. Check your VIN to confirm whether your specific bus is included.
What's the safety risk?
An unsecured passenger window can open unexpectedly after a crash or contact with the window. That creates an ejection risk for passengers and increases the risk of injury. Loose bolts are likely to make the window rattle before the mounting brackets detach, so treat rattling as a reason to schedule service soon. Repair is free at any franchised Mci dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2015-2016 Mci J4500 is included in this recall.

- Keep passengers away from the non-egress passenger windows until the repair is complete.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, an Mci technician tightens and secures the mounting hardware for the non-egress single pane passenger windows so the lower edge stays in place. Parts and dealer labor are free under recall 16V510. Mci also says it will provide any required parts and reimburse owners for required labor. Keep repair paperwork and ask the service desk or Mci customer service how to submit the labor reimbursement claim under service bulletin SB 433B.
