What's wrong?
The rear wheel rim on the 2016 Ducati Xdiavel S mounts to the hub, the center piece that supports the wheel and transfers drive force from the motorcycle to the tire. Four hub pins are supposed to fit into matching holes in the rim. Those pins keep the rim seated in the correct position on the hub as the wheel turns.
On affected motorcycles, the rear wheel was installed incorrectly. The four hub pins did not engage the proper rim holes and instead sat in casting recesses in the wheel. Because the rim design did not block that wrong position, the pins can rotate inside those recesses rather than locking the wheel in place as intended.
If the rim starts rotating on the hub, the rider can hear a metallic noise during acceleration or deceleration. That noise is the warning sign Ducati identified before failure.

What's the safety risk?
An incorrectly installed rear wheel can make the drive pins fail, causing loss of braking and loss of power from the engine to the wheel. That raises crash risk. If you hear a metallic noise during acceleration or deceleration, stop riding and call a Ducati dealer. Repair is free at any franchised Ducati dealer.
What should I do?
- Check your VIN to confirm your 2016 Ducati Xdiavel S is included in this recall.
- Contact a franchised Ducati dealer to schedule the free rear-wheel inspection and rubber-insert installation that prevents improper wheel installation.
- Bring the recall notice if Ducati mailed one. If not, reference recall number 16V370 when you call.
- Avoid riding until the dealer completes the repair, because an incorrectly installed rear wheel can cause loss of braking and engine power.
What happens at the repair
At the dealer, a Ducati technician removes the rear wheel and installs rubber inserts that help prevent the wheel from being installed incorrectly on the hub. If the wheel is found to have been installed incorrectly, the dealer replaces it. Parts and labor are covered under recall 16V370. Ducati has a general reimbursement plan on file for this campaign, so bring documentation for any prior related rear wheel repair and ask the service desk how to submit it.
