What's wrong?

The entrance step system on 2007-2010 Haulmark Motorcoach recreational vehicles uses an electric Coachstep assembly to move the steps into place when someone enters or exits. Inside that assembly, a fan gear helps hold and position the steps. A center bolt attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps, so the steps stay where the system expects them to stay.

In recall 16V132, the center bolt in certain LCI Coachstep electric double or triple entrance steps can fracture. Once that bolt breaks, the fan gear assembly can disengage from the steps. The steps can then shift out of the expected position and become unstable under a person's weight. The fix adds a retainer bracket that gives the step assembly the structural support the bolt did not provide.

There is no warning sign before failure. Treat loose, shifting, or unstable entrance steps as a reason to stop using the steps until the recall repair is complete.

Frequently asked questions

What is recall 16V132?

Recall 16V132 covers 217 2007-2010 Haulmark Motorcoach vehicles with an entry-step defect. The fan gear assembly bolt can fracture, letting the fan gear disengage from the steps. The steps can lose their expected position and become unstable, increasing injury risk. Haulmark dealers install the required retainer bracket and linkage repair for free.

What should I do if my 2007-2010 Haulmark Motorcoach is on this recall?

Check your VIN to confirm your specific Motorcoach is included in recall 16V132. If it is, contact a franchised Haulmark dealer or Haulmark customer service at 1-574-264-9661 to arrange the step repair. Reference recall 16V132 when you call. The repair is free.

Is the recall repair free?

Yes. Federal recall law requires the manufacturer to repair the defect at no cost, and Haulmark dealers will install the retainer bracket and replace the Coachstep Linkage Assembly where required free of charge.

What is the safety risk?

The risk is an unstable entry or exit step. If the fan gear disengages, the steps can shift out of their expected position and lose support. That increases the risk of injury when someone enters or exits the Motorcoach.
